Oman women's national football team[edit]

Created/expanded by LauraHale (talk), Uishaki (talk), Raymond Cruise (talk). Nominated by LauraHale (talk) at 04:52, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

  • The hook isn't referenced, in fact it's not even mentioned in the article itself. It meets all other requirements. Achowat (talk) 17:56, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
  • (addendum)There is no Fair-Use rationale for this page at File:Oman FA.png, which is required (even though it will look almost identical to the rationale for Oman national football team. Achowat (talk) 18:00, 11 June 2012 (UTC)
Erk. I think I added it? --LauraHale (talk) 00:59, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
The non-free use rationale is there, and the link about a club team playing for Oman is also there. I'm having a hard time navigating the source (I'm not a huge fan of Google Books), but I searched the text for "disqualified" and got nothing at all. "Club", "team" and "club team" are all too common words to give significant results. The source cited seems to just explain that Oman played in the tournament, not that a club team played for them or that they were disqualified for it. The article itself, as well, doesn't mention disqualification. Achowat (talk) 13:45, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm going to kick myself. :( I can't even find it in the article and I don't know what happened to it. :( Althook?

I don't know how true that statement is. Generally when the footballing world says "National teams" we mean the full-senior 11-on-11 game played at the Olympics and World Cup. I'm more or less unfamliar with Middle Eastern football. Would it seem out of place to call a 7-a-side match between, say, Jordan and Egypt a "national team" game? Because I know in the West that would seem so terribly out of place. Achowat (talk) 12:53, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
They are national teams in that they are representative teams from the country, distinct from clubs playing in international competitions. That they are playing with modified rules happens. In rugby union, they will be playing with the modified seven-a-side game when they make their Olympic debut instead of the normal rules. Plus, they have representative teams for the homeless world cup in football, for blind football and other variations. If the sources are calling it a football/soccer tournament and treat it as a national side (as opposed to a club side from the country), I don't see why this should be questioned. --LauraHale (talk) 02:49, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Poke poke poke. Follow up? --LauraHale (talk) 11:58, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

You're absolutely right; we should just report what the Secondary Sources said. The hook looks good, as it stands. With those problems solved, I have no problem putting a here. (Though, I must report my ignorance to the DYK process as to what is done now). Achowat (talk) 12:58, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
