Template:Moved to new section/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Purpose[edit]

The {{Moved to new section}} tag is related to {{Resolved}}, but is meant to be placed at the top of sections on talk pages and other discussions, to indicate when a new section has been created for a discussion, likely when the author has forgotten to create one.

Usage[edit]

Place the following under the new topic heading on a talk page:

{{Moved to new section|1=~~~~}}
Moved to new section
 – JohnDoe 08:26, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

The optional first parameter, |1=, is an additional comment explaining why the discussion was moved, and/or to sign so that others know who marked the thread as resolved. It is especially optional if a comment retained below the heading makes it clear who did the move and why. If used, it should fit on one line, and the explicit |1= parameter name is necessary if there are any "=" characters in the message, for example if your raw signature contains the character, which is quite common.
