Template:Use PMID reference names/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Usage[edit]

If the page contains {{Use PMID reference names}} template, then all the reference names for citations that have a PubMed ID attribute |pmid= should be named "pmidNNNNNN", because for editors of medicine articles the PubMed ID has semantic value and allows to distinguish easily from another reference. The choice of reference naming among the PubMed articles is a personal preference. If editors decided to use this notion, then the template will denote this decision to avoid style wars. This way of specifying the citation name list format is similar to specifying the date format via the {{Use dmy dates}} template when humans and bots use date format as specified for the whole the page using the template.

Parameters[edit]

There is an optional "date" parameter.

Syntax[edit]

{{Use PMID reference names|date=June 2024}}
