The News Lens (TNL) is an independent digital media based in Taiwan,[1] founded by Joey Chung and Mario Yang in 2013, with multilingual versions in Chinese, English and Japanese. It provides the digital natives with inclusive, in-depth, diverse, and highly influential content on international issues and local topics in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, and Japan. It has content partnerships with outlets such as BBC, Time, Fortune, DW, WIRED, Nippon.com, and Foreign Policy. Article categories include politics, economics, technology, society, life, and more.

The News Lens is part of TNL Media Group, one of the fastest-growing media, digital advertising, and data analytics platforms for the Asian market. The Group also owns several brands, including INSIDE, Sports Vision, Cool3c, every little d, Becoming Aces, Agent Movie, Ohsowow, and Business Yee.

From 2019 to 2021, through several mergers and acquisitions, TNL Media Group has successfully expanded into AI, big data, market research, and digital advertising technology fields.[2] It has become the fastest-growing digital content and technology company in the global Mandarin market. Taiwan's first media company to be selected for HBS Case Study.[3]

Investment

TNL Media Group has completed its series D financing.[4] The existing high-profile investors include North Base Media, a firm created by Marcus Brauchli and Sasa Vucinic;[5] 500 Startups; Palm Drive Capital;[6] YouTube co-founder Steve Chen; Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin, and famed Silicon Valley investor Tim Draper.

Co-founder/CCO: Mario Yang (楊士範), former editor-in-chief of CNET Taiwan; senior editor of Business Weekly (Taiwan).

Director: Marcus Brauchli, former executive editor of The Washington Post; former managing editor of The Wall Street Journal.

Advisory Director: Saša Vučinić, co-founder and former CEO and managing director of the Media Development Loan Fund.
