Topic can refer to:

  • An area of interest, also called a subject
  • What a composition is about; what is described by the main ideas and supporting details
  • Topic (or theme) in linguistics, the part of a proposition that is being talked about (predicated)
  • A topic sentence, a sentence in a paragraph that indicates what the paragraph in general is about, usually the first sentence
