Afreiden received his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blue belt in Spring 2009 from Larry Norman at Ricardo Almeida's gym (RABJJ) in Hamilton, NJ, his purple belt in Winter 2012 from Cadu Francis at Jiu Jitsu Foundation (JJF) in San Diego, CA, and his brown belt in Spring 2018 from Mike Palladino at Evolution Grappling Academy (EGA) in Beacon, NY.
