Red Songs campaign is a political campaign ordered by the Chongqing party chief Bo Xilai and the Propaganda Department of the Communist Party of China of the Chongqing city branch, demanding every district, government departments and commercial corporations, universities and schools, state radio and TV stattions to begin singing "red songs" that praising the achievements of the Communist Party of China and PRC. Bo Xilai, son of Bo Yibo, "pledged to reinvigorate the city with the Marxist ideals of his father's comrade-in-arms Mao Zedong", and according to Ding Xueliang of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Bo Xilai is "very clever" in using this "sing red songs" campaign to focus on appointment to the Chinese Politburo Standing Committee, the highest political echelon.[1][2][3] [4]

The Chongqing propaganda department has ordered the city's radio and television stations to repeatedly and contiuely to broadcast 36 "red songs" so that every Chongqing citizens "know how to sing, are able to sing, love to sing"(Chinese:人人会唱、人人能唱、人人爱唱), and to create a "sing red songs heat wave in the city" (Chinese:进一步掀起我市红歌传唱热潮。)[5][6]
