I was an enlisted man stationed on the USS Jesse L. Brown(FF-1089) from October 1983-March 1987. I edited the JLB page on wikipedia with ACCURATE data per the ships exploits in the mid 1980s, which contradicted the BS listed on here that the ship primarily saved buoys and assisted the USCG in anti-drug operations. Obviously somebody doesn't want the truth on here, and emailed me back that my edits were not verifiable. I beg to differ, as the Officers and Sailors who served with me can verify exactly what that ship did with the US 2nd and 6th fleets.

Thanks for completely wasting my time. I'd like to know who the Naval (read: coast guard) experts were that contributed to the innacurate data on the USS Jesse L. Brown. I think Jesse L. Brown and his namesake ship deserve better. Seeing how he was the 1st African American Naval Aviator to give his life for his country. Also, in 1984, I had the privilege of meeting Capt. Thomas Hudner, Ensign Brown's wingman, who received the Congressional Medal of Honor for attempting to save Mr. Brown's life near the Chosin Reservoir, N. Korea in 1950.

I would personally like to thank Wikipedia and it's minions for contributing to the innacuracy of Naval History on this website!
