Brian D. Buckley (June 9, 1987) is an American adventurist, journalist and general outdoors-man. While he was originally born in California he spent most of his early life growing up in the greater Seattle area. He is most well known for his exploits in multiple states and countries, including Taiwan, the Philippines and Alaska.

Early life[edit]

Buckley was born in Orange County, California, the younger of two children (sister Lisa Buckley), to parents Joanne and Dan Buckley. When Brian was young, his parents split up, leaving most of his care to his mother in Sammamish, Washington. These challenging times proved vital in determining Buckley's character and he often describes how his parents breakup was one of the more eye opening times in his life.

Joanne worked as a paralegal to support her children, and is described as having become an avid fan of the song "I Will Survive" following her husband's departure.

Interested in sports and athletically inclined from a young age, Buckley joined baseball and soccer teams as a child though he never joined any sports teams in high school, where he was often in trouble. He started skateboarding and became enthralled by urban exploration. In this time of his life he met fellow friends Kyle Buckingham, Riley Pittman, and "Baby Hands" Craig.

Education[edit]

Buckley was the first in his family to receive a college degree and did so from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. In school he studied English and quickly became fluent in the works of Hunter S. Thomson and Jack Kerouac's On the Road. He spent most of his free time exploring the great outdoors, writing personal journals and engaging others in intellectual conversations.

Early Jobs[edit]

After graduating college, Buckley worked at a few miscellaneous jobs, working at Costco, Starbucks and even as a asphalt paver. After growing tired of jobs that did not engage his education, he decided to teach English in Taiwan. He spent an entire year living abroad where he forged a number of deep friendships. He spent of his time engaging in music and dance but dedicated a large portion of his experience to outdoors adventuring. He quickly grew to love the outdoors and Taiwanese culture. He took many of his best pictures during this time of his wilderness exploration.

Writing Career[edit]

Brian's college education was initially responsible for catapulting his writing career. He spent a large portion of his time out of college in jobs that gave him time to read and write as much as possible.

Since then he has published three different blogs and has
