Production[edit]

According to Playbill News,[1] Marc Platt Productions is currently planning a film of Wicked, as well as a remake of the 1973 film Jesus Christ Superstar. Platt is currently in "early talks" with the co-producer of the Wicked musical. Winnie Holzman, who penned the Tony-nominated book for Wicked, will write the film's screenplay. No casting has been mentioned.

Plot[edit]

In the Land of OZ, there was a time before Dorothy. This is the story of two girls that became friends despite their differences. Their names are Galinda and Elphaba, also know as Glinda the Good Witch and The Wicked Witch of the West. They weren't always good and wicked. This is their story of love and friendship through a school called Shiz. They start out being the two roommates who hate each other and turn into best friends. Their friendship is tested when Elphaba tries to do the right thing and Glinda tries to save her self and be the one everyone loves. We find the origins of many classic characters from the Oz series, including the scarecrow, the tin man, the cowerdly lion, the wizard, and many many more. With great music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, this makes for a great tale of how the world can see a good person as evil and see the other who looks to be the good guy, and find out they were the villian all along. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire and the Broadway musical written by Winnie Holzman (book) and Stephan Schwartz (music and lyrics).
