Politics

Ah, Politics! The bane of all civilized discourse among civilized beings across the galaxy! Socially I'm quite liberal, or as Bill O'Reilly puts it, LIEberal! I believe that no government or institution has the right to interfere with the activities of consenting adults so long as they do no harm, regardless of what activities they be; nor does aforementioned government have the right to discriminate against anyone on any basis whatsoever.

Fiscally I'm conservative; A small, efficient government is the best. I'm also conservative and a bit isolationist with foreign policy: Keep strong alliances; don't piss on potential enemies; do what must be done to secure democracy and human dignity, not covetous conquest for other people's oil; respect ally and enemy alike; and be fair.

I am for a strong military, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, to be safe in their effects and papers against unreasonable zeitgeist-driven witch-hunts (War on Terror, anyone?), and sternly against censorship.

I am against the wasteful and hateful War on Drugs. It is a racist version of Prohibition slightly warmed-over and it has failed just like its predecessor, foisted upon us by fundamentalists and a federal government run amok. Get rid of it, and get the Prison-Industrial Complex out of American politics! The War on Drugs is a War on the American People!

Spirituality

My beliefs can best be described as pantheist in that all prophets have something to add to the human experience, and that all should be considered fairly. I'm of the opinion that organized megachurch religion is completely destroying the message our gods and goddesses have given to us for selfish, destructive, and evil ends; and therefore are all Heresy. Religion in politics can only lead to Fundamentalism, Totalitarianism, and Tyranny; and is also Heresy. Picking and choosing small out-of-context snippets from texts considered Holy to justify hatred, persecution, and murder of any subset of any population is the epitome of Heresy.

Spirituality is something to be pursued alone or with the guidance of a trusting partner (possibly also with chemical assistance of the mind-altering kind), not at the fifty-ninth pew of a twenty-million-dollar megachurch with a zealot spewing misguided hatred toward his fellow human being from the pulpit.

• People who make new topics on message boards to ask questions that already have been asked and answered 3+ times on the main page alone. I mean, not searching is bad enough, but use your bloody eyes for crying out aloud!

• AOL. Their gigantic byzantine system of rotating proxies is incredibly annoying and very hostile to the rest of the internet, but they're also the biggest reservoir of stupid people this side of the Fundies!

• People who judge old games purely by comparing their graphics with today's games. Same goes for movies. I like my classics; be it games, movies, or music!

• Compaq and Hewlett-Packard. Crappy, shitty, cheap, faulty bundle systems. Build your own PC like a true Jedi.

• A lot of modern popular music. Mainly modern rap/hip-hop where the singers never stop talking (especially wherein it's nothing but violence, lawlessness, and bigotry of various kinds), brain-dead BLATANTLY manufactured pop and no-talent techno (especially the simplistic "DOOF-DOOF-DOOF-DOOF-DOOF!" variety).

• Gimmicky, ultra-flashy program interfaces and web sites, especially when they get in the way of efficient use.

• Gimmicky, ultra-brittle (software) program features and websites, especially when they cause the program (or worse MY BROWSER!!) to crash constantly. Microsoft Frontpage fphover.class I'm looking RIGHT AT YOU.

• animated cartoon pornography. Anyone involved in its creation must be locked up. Or better yet, killed. Slowly. In public. Same goes for people who watch said vomit. Porn art, i.e. still images, is however excepted when tasteful.

• Idiotic marketing execs. You know, the kind who come up with stupid, intelligence insulting slogans, advertisements and product names. 56K E-Modem, anyone? And can those Lynx commercials get any more blatantly sexist?

• Morally-bankrupt marketing execs. You know, the kind who come up with stupid crap that invites itself into your email inbox or your computer itself. Gator and CoolWebSearch, anyone? And can those popunder ads get any more blatantly user-hostile?

• Companies like Electronic Arts. Their lust for profit is driving companies, workers, and gaming franchises into the ground. Good thing they never got the rights to Quake or Super Mario Brothers.
