Eric Donovan is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Calgary. He studies space physics, with a focus on using the aurora to remote sense dynamic plasma processes in near-Earth space.
Dr. Donovan is the Principal Investigator of the NORSTAR project, and the lead Canadian Scientist in the NASA THEMIS project. He developed the Ravens auroral imaging mission concept and is the international coordinator for the Chinese KuaFu-B satellite mission.
In recent years, Dr. Donovan and his team have been heavily involved in developing large networks of inexpensive ground-based space science instruments.
