Huanuni is a mine in Bolivia, 280km south of La Paz.[1] About 5% of the world's supply of tin comes from it.[2] In 2002, workers went on strike and succeeded in making the mine publicly-owned.[3] In October 2006, the mine was fought over by those miners who wanted public ownership of the mine and those who did not. At least nine deaths resulted.[4],[5]
