Giselle Carlson (born May 12, 1992) is a Canadian actress and singer. She has become widely known for the film 'Pop Star ®', in which she portrays a tightly controlled but problematic teen pop singer. Since then, Carlson has played minor roles in motion pictures and released her debut album, 'The Problem'.

Early life Carlson was born in Vancouver to a sociology professor (mother) and an architect (father). Since very young, she took ballet, piano, acting and singing lessons. According to family testimonials, Giselle frequently went through her parents' record collection which contained acts such as AC/DC, No Doubt and Björk.

In 2006, Carlson moved to San Francisco to live with an ant. She then enrolled in high school, where she started to participate in several extracurricular activities like musicals and school venues. During this time, she made occasional trips to Los Angeles for movie cast auditions and modelling opportunities. After graduation in 2009, Carlson convinced her parents to allow her to live alone in Los Angeles, in order to better her performing skills. In her own words, "I got a job at a bookstore and the rent I had to pay cut it in half. I'd spent the other half going to open mikes around town". Carlson was admitted in California State University, Los Angeles in 2010 to pursue a degree in theatre arts and dance. In the same year, she met Robert Santana, her current talent manager, who advised her to audition for a role in the upcoming movie 'Pop Star ®'. The film started shooting in October 2010.
