[edit]

Introduction Diodes are very important elements in modern circuits. They are commonly used in power supplies, voltage regulators and filtering/signaling applications. The main future of a diode is that it only allows current to flow in one direction. Purpose The purpose of this lab is to become familiar with practical applications of Diodes. We will build two Circuits the shunt diode circuits and the series diode circuit. These two experiments will supplement equations and theory learned in the lecture portion of the class. Problem The problem presented in this lab requires knowledge of diodes. Two circuits will be constructed; one circuit where the diode is placed in parallel or "shunt with a resistor, and one where it is placed in series. Each circuit shall be designed to offer different results by measuring voltage across a different location.
