Though I’m not new to Wikipedia, I’m unfamiliar with most of its organizational protocols, so this is my first effort to write a user page. From what I can tell — having only checked out other people's user pages for the first time today — they run the gamut from full curricula vitae to stream of consciousness arcana. Mine will tend toward the former, if only to give those whose articles I’ve edited some indication of whether, in fact, I have the clue they may think I’m bereft of. [To any Preposition Police who object to that syntax, I refer you to Winston Churchill’s comments on the matter.]

The only Wikipedia article I’ve written was on Turkey’s Southeast Anatolia Project, the Turkish acronym for which is ‘GAP' (after its Turkish name, Güneydoğu Anadolu Projesi). It was a summary of my Master’s thesis, and I submitted it here some time in 2005 or 2006. However, the current GAP article is entirely different and appears to have come from either the Turkish government’s GAP Administration or the Master’s thesis of someone who works at the Turkish government’s GAP Administration ;) I never edited my article or followed its development, so I have no idea when it was completely replaced by the current one.

Anyway, here’s my CV in short form:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D., magna cum laude) in Geography, focus in Political Geography, University of Iowa, 2007.

Master’s (M.A., magna cum laude) in Geography, focus in Cultural Geography, University of California, Los Angeles, 2003.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A., cum laude) in Political Science with minors in Journalism and History, Ohio University, 1990.

Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (B.S.Ed., cum laude) with minors in Geography and English, Ohio University, 1990.

2007-present: Associate professor of Geography at a university in Southern California.

2001-2007: Graduate student, fellow and lecturer in Geography, Political Science and Political Communication at 5 colleges and universities in Iowa, Southern California and Turkey.

1997-2001: Political public relations consultant, Washington, D.C.

1992-1997: Clinton Administration legislative director for all policy dealing with the Food Stamps, National School Lunch and WIC Programs.

1990-1992: Legislative assistant for a Democratic congressman from Ohio.

Not much else to say. I’m not even remotely familiar with how these various kinds of user pages work, but I’m looking forward to figuring it out.
