A brief bio: I grew up in various places in various Western states (Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, California); worked for the Southern Pacific; went to Stanford; worked for a physics lab (HEPL / Stanford); went to Carnegie Mellon; and worked for IBM Research for more years than I care to count. Currently I am semi-retired.
