Early Life

Cassim Ibrahim is a Malawian gospel singer-composer and songwriter. He was born on 10 February, 1992 into a family of four children and he is the last born in the family www.urbanmalawi.com/cassimibrahim. His birth name is Kassam Abbah Tel-Huh Mohammed Ibrahim. He changed his birth name to Cassim Ibrahim when he was in Standard Seven at Kaphuta Primary School in Mzimba District. He was born in Mzimba District at Mzimba Hospital (Tovwirane Hospital). He is from the Northern Region of Malawi. He hails from Kamsombeni Village, T/A Mzukubola in Mzimba district. He began singing at the age of eight years. His talent was fully unfolded when he joined Adventist Youth Choir in 2006. Since then he has been an active member of different singing groups. Currently, he is a member of the following singing groups: Noble Voices Accapella group, Jesus Saves, The Bright Morning, and Consecration singers. He learned to play some instruments from his friends. He is a very fast learner. He became a Christian in his teenage years.

Growing up as kid to him life was hard. He was raised by a single parent (Mother) who could not afford to take care of them (four children) fully. But as a mother, she tried her best to care for her children. His father left his mother when Cassim was two months old. It was in 1992 when his mother and father got divorced. It was in the same year, his family went to Chitipa. His father married another woman and remained in Mzimba. As a result, he did not care about them (children). It is because of his background that shaped his talent. Most of his songs are thought-provoking, soul-touching, soul-winning, soul-reviving and soul-healing.
His background is quite complicated. Cassim Ibrahim did his early education in Chitipa at CCAP nursery school at Chitipa Boma (Trading area). In 1997, his family went back to Mzimba where he spent part of his childhood. He did his first years of primary school in Mzimba (standard 1 to 3) in schools namely; Assemblies of God, Restored, Davy FP School, Kaphuta FP School and Tiyanjane PVT School.

In 1999, his family went to Mzuzu where he was just staying without going to any school. In 2001, his family went to Lilongwe and he did part of his school at Likuni Boys Primary School and Kakule Primary School. In 2004, Cassim and his brother, Intiaz Ibrahim, went back to Mzimba where he proceeded to do his standard 7 and 8 at Kaphuta FP School. He did his secondary education at Mnjiri Community Day Secondary School from 2006 to 2009. After sitting for Malawi School Certificate of Education Examination, he qualified to sit for University of Malawi Entrance Examination. In 2010, he was offered a government scholarship to pursue his education at the University of Malawi. He is, currently, pursuing a general degree of Bachelor of Arts in Humanities at Chancellor College, a constituent college of University of Malawi. Church Life

Cassim Ibrahim (nicknamed Kakarema) is a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Malawi. He has a Muslim name but he has never been a member of Islam. However, when he was young he could go to mosque sometimes just to appease his relatives. He received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour in 2008 when he got baptized.
