Alphabetic fonts[edit]

Comments
- This first three examples look the same to me, so my default font is apparently Arial.
- Lucida has a problem with size consistency for several vowels.
- New Times Roman and Nom Na Tong are similar serif fonts. They tend to de-emphasize the diacritics.

- These are the so-called "simplified" fonts. The default font is apparently SimSun. The Arial and New Times Roman fonts do not include Chinese characters, but instead cause the default font to display.

- {{lang-vi}} is again SimSun, i.e. a modern simplified font. HAN NOM has a few minor variations compared to SimSun. HAN NOM B covers only Unicode extension B, while HAN NOM A covers other characters. {{vi-nom}} displays Nom Na Tong, if this font has been downloaded. Nom Na Tong is based on the characters that appear in wood-block prints of Vietnamese Buddhist literature.

- These are the so-called "traditional" fonts. TW-Sung is a reference font created by CNS, the Taiwanese standards agency. The default font for zh-TW is apparently PMingLiU.
