User:Kew Gardens 613/List of part-time New York City Subway token booths
This is a list of part-time New York City Subway token booths. Most of them were removed in the 1990s through 2010 in a series of budget cuts. Initially, in the 1990s, and earlier, entrance hours were reduced and entrance were closed to reduce the labor costs associated with staffing additional booths. With the introduction of the MetroCard, and new High Entry/Exit Turnstiles (HEETs), some of these entrances were made full-time without booths. In the 2000s, budget cuts in years such as 2003, 2005 and 2010, closed down most part-time booths. The agency is slowly transitioning from getting station agents out of the token booths. In many places across the system, the existence of old token booths can be seen by looking at the mezzanine floors, and, in other cases, the old booths still exist. Additional information would be appreciated, including dates when they became part-time, when they were closed and/or removed, the existance of former booths, and information on change booths. Information on the hours of their use, and changes in these hours would be appreciated as well. Proper citations would be appreciated, whether they are newspaper articles detailing their opening, NYCTA documentation, or images showing their existence.
