The Smoke-Free Air Act is a law that went into effect in New Jersey on April 15, 2006. This law prohibits smoking in any indoor public place and work place. [[Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg<|thumb|Smoke-Free Air Logo]]

Exemptions[edit]

  • Casino Floors
  • Cigar bars and lounges, who make 15% of their income from tobacco products.
  • Tobacco Retail Establishments whos primary (51%) sales are from tobacco products.

Penalties[edit]

A person in violation of the law:

  • $250 first offense
  • $500 second offense
  • $1000 for each subsequent violation

Business that fails to comply with the law:

  • $250 first offense
  • $500 second offense
  • $1000 for each subsequent violation

Smoke-Free Casinos[edit]

Atlantic Prevention Resources(APR) and Atlantic County REBEL have began pettioning for Smoke-Free Casinos. The casino floors are the biggest exemption from the law. Currently these organisations are working to remove them from the exemption.
