Hello, I have written for Wikipedia under the name Matforddavid. This nickname comes from my Christian name and part of the address where I live in Exeter, Devon. I was born in 1950 (and if you know where to look, you will find that there was a blue moon earlier in the week of my birth). I graduated in mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and then studied operational research at the University of Lancaster. Since then I have used, taught, written and spoken about these two academic subjects.

One of my Cambridge tutors had an entry in “Who's Who”, which claimed his hobbies included: “Wondering about it all” . Following in his footsteps has led me to be a minor Wikipedian.
