I love the wikipedia project, but I dislike mediawiki as a wiki engine... on the other hand, my favourite wiki engine is twiki, which is written in Perl, a programming language which I put just a few points before B.A.S.I.C. so maybe the engine and the language are not as important as the aim and the results...
