C-Side

ARE YOU A myspace.freak??

Freak: “someone who takes something, anything – and goes a little too far with it.”

One of hip-hop’s most important jobs is to – like Marvin Gaye did in his day – tell us “what’s goin’ on” in our world and on our streets. This is something that Atlanta-based rap trio C-SIDE does exceptionally well, and their hot new single myspace.freak is irrefutable proof.

First, the rhythm grabs you, then the lyrics pull you in…

“Shawty be upon it like everyday of the week/ MySpace dot com the reason she can’t sleep…/She a myspace freak.”

As you’re bouncing to the beat, laughing at the humor C-SIDE effortlessly employs, the question hits you – “Am I one of those people they’re talking about? Am I a MySpace freak?” And if the answer is “yes” its no big deal because so is everyone else these days.

Although C-SIDE’s name may be new to the mainstream, the group‘s popularity has long been a factor in both Atlanta’s underground hip-hop community and on the new mainstream of America, the all-popular internet. Recognizing that there are millions of MySpace freaks, C-SIDE’s electronic anthem, featuring hit-making producer, Jazze Pha, has caused a MySpace frenzy. C-SIDE is now on the road to success with the groundswell of attention that myspace.freak has already garnered.

C-SIDE, meaning…Creative Superb Individuals Doing Entertainment, “defines who we are and what we’re trying to do musically,” explains the group’s resident producer/businessman, Kenny Kold. Their name symbolizes the passion for their craft that they all share.

Made up of three uniquely talented individuals, the members of C-SIDE are Atlanta native Kenny Kold, the talented producer of the group, (Kold previously produced hit records for the leaders of the “snap music” movement, platinum selling Southern rap group, Dem Franchize Boyz; Pimp C (UGK); and 12 Gauge; the quarterback of the group, South Carolina native Bo-Q; and the sly, ladies’ man and true genius behind the concept of myspace.freak, Chicago-born Gator.

“I had been watching this whole phenomenon of MySpace unfold and I knew that we needed to take advantage of it,” says Gator. Bo-Q and Kenny were onboard with the plan and before long their studio antics about MySpace turned serious and soon the group, who already had a strong fan base in Atlanta and throughout the Southeast, was receiving up to 300,000 hits on myspace.freak on their MySpace webpage.

”People from Australia, Amsterdam and all over the world were hitting us up. We even did drops for several radio stations in France,” says Kenny. The group soon attracted the attention of music industry heavy-hitters at home too.

“When I first met Kenny Kold he was 18 and on a serious grind,” states Antonio “Top Cat” Randolph, President/CEO Peachtree Music Group. “I signed Kenny as a producer under Top Cat Entertainment and had him produce songs for my group, Dem Franchize Boyz. He was always pushing his beats and bringing me new C-SIDE tracks,” explains Top Cat. “C-SIDE was recording day and night as if they already had a record deal. Naturally, when my partner Markuann Smith, (VP Peachtree Music Group), and I launched Peachtree Music Group they were the first artists that we signed.”

In September of 2006, Peachtree Music Group entered into a joint venture with Atlanta-based entrepreneur Terry K. Johnson’s newly formed 17.20 Records to release C-SIDE’s skyrocketing remix single of myspace.freak, produced by and featuring hit-making producer, Jazze Pha. “We are excited to be in business with Peachtree Music Group and C-SIDE,” states Mr. Johnson. “Antonio and Markuann’s team brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to the table.”

“C-SIDE is a very creative group of guys with big dreams who are making a conscious effort to bring a positive, fun message to a genre that, in my humble opinion, could use an injection of what C-SIDE is all about. They’ve inspired me to help make their dream of success become a reality,” adds Johnson.

“We’re about fun and having a good time,” says Bo-Q. “Of course we want to sell records but we don’t think we have to encourage negativity to do that. We want to make music for everybody and not be limited.”

And with their carefully crafted mix of hot beats, smart lyrics, high energy, and mass appeal, the sky is the only foreseeable limit for this group!
