Victor Alimpiev[edit]

Victor Alimpiev (Russian: Виктор Гелиевич Алимпиев) b.1973 – Russian video artist, fine artist.


Biography[edit]

Victor Alimpiev was born in Moscow, Russia in 1973. He graduated from the Art School of memory of 1905, Moscow Pedagogic State University (MPGU) Graphic Art department. He studied at the New Strategies in Contemporary Art School at The Institute of Contemporary Art, Moscow. He attended a two-month course at the Graduate School of Art Veland in Gothenburg, Sweden. Alimpiev’s works are known worldwide, they are included in the collections of well-known art museums. For example his video “Sweet Nightingale” is acquired by TATE Modern and his video “My Breath” is included in Centre Pompidou’s (Paris) collection.[1]

Technique[edit]

Victor Alimpiev uses in his video art elements of theater, music, chareography, and painting.[2] He often uses close-ups and prefers to film a group of people.[3]
