Brush Polymers[edit]

The purpose of expanding the brush polymers site is to provide the general public with access to information regarding polymer brushes. By expanding the current site, we can offer knowledge into current synthesis methods, schemes, and examples of polymer brushes and their uses today.

Introduction[edit]

  • maybe add a little more, there is already a basic introduction posted
  • assembly of polymer chains adhered by one end to a surface or an interface
  • adherence must be of sufficient density so that the polymer chains are crowded and forced to stretch away from the surface to avoid crowding

Synthesis[edit]

  • “grafting to” approach
  • address issues with monomer concentration on substrate
  • “grafting from” approach
  • address why this is the “better” method for concentration dependence of monomers on a surface
  • “multi-step grafting approaches”

Applications[edit]

  • briefly address the various ways that these brush polymers can be used such as in adhesives, biosurfaces, lubrication, separations, compatibilizers, and coatings
