Voice your opinion on this candidate (talk page) (?/?/?); Scheduled to end You're almost there. All you need to do now is substitute the time parser function (it isn't as scary as it sounds, edit the page and inline comments will guide you). This will generate a fixed end time. Remove the <!-- and --> around subst: in the template (as well as this comment) once you transclude this request.

Questions for the candidate[edit]

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. Please answer these questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I plan to do work on several areas
  • On anti-vandalism and anti-spam. In this capacity I consider being able to block repeat offenders an significant advantage especially when I detect the same user has changed IP to avoid detection.
  • I am also an information specialist and I have been a volunteer developer for MediaWiki for the last year. I have to agree that coders are not sufficiently connected with the community and hence I have participated in both Adoption and not In RfA. If accepted I will be able to develop much needed admin bots. Possibilities include support for Admins via automated detection of COI, non-NPOV, Notability, Source Quality, CPVIO. Metrics of editor activity in terms of information quality. A solution to assist with link rot, and detection systems for cooperative sock puppet account. However I'd rather work on the tasks that the community considers high impact multiplier of their work.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: I've been working on improving the search engine. I've also drafted a proposal to create SimoneBot a coaching platform for wikis.
I have helped organize and rank all the Yoga related articles in the Yoga project and implemented it's WP 1.0 ranking system. I have also created a book orgenizing all these articles for offline access.
I have conducted research modeling conflict and failures to reach consensus (mostly at Afd); The results my be published sone and will be included in a bot aimed to modify aggressive/coercive behavior from conflict to more cooperative/collaborative. (code name TronBot).
However my finest hour - as assessed by my first mentor is the creation of an COI article on my mother Dvora Bochman. I was able to learn how to cooperate with many editors and work within the rules, guidelines and policies, protocols to do this without incident. Furthermore, I was able or the first time to truly appreciate what an undervalued reource these young people are what their social value and endless energy.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
How to coax a competitive editors upwards in the pyramid?
A: As my record will show I have not been involved in serious conflicts necessitating a ban or even a block. I have editing increasingly controversial subjects. These have revealed some of the less savoury tactics in use by experienced COI editors against relative newcomers. I can say that while these may be trying for some, conflict understood can be the most powerful force for resolving content disputes and increasing article quality.
For instance in a recent content dispute I with an editor who had deleted a section of an article I had patrolled resolved. We negotiated a new protocol and I supplied some sourcing issues - but then the antagonist reverted to his original request. I was able to push the dispute up a level in the pyramid and clarify that the argument is now one of scope and not content or policy. This was sufficient to effectively end the conflict.
However in pursuing this strategy an editor must keep a level head. Demonstrate a Socratic disposition and a Gandhi like commitment to resolve conflict at a higher level of the pyramid from where it begins. To signal that unethical behaviour is unacceptable, without reciprocating or escalating downwards. I always assume (AGF) that these are always possible. .
