My name is Colin Orion Chandler. I grew up in Mill Valley, California. I attended Tamalpais High School, wherefrom I departed early with a California High School Proficiency Exam in order to attend San Francisco State University (SFSU). I have a lifelong passion for astronomy and, after a long hiatus, am currently pursuing a degree in astrophysics at SFSU. I am applying to graduate schools and hope to pursue a PhD. After many years of daily use, I have created this Wikipedia account in order to suggest or write articles about topics I am passionate about, especially with respect to astrophysics. I have read the Conflict of Interest pages and hope that I understand them well enough to be able to create pages about some of the incredible people that I am meeting at academic conferences that I feel sorely need Wikipedia pages for the public good. I say this because I, and all of my fellow students, always make Wikipedia our first stop when searching for anything, from asteroid to Zoloft. As students, we sometimes study under prominent members and senior scientists, individuals that we would like to learn more about. For example, my former professor at SFSU, Stephen Kane, who makes many public appearances, has received frequent media attention, and has a following both in the astronomical and public spheres. Similarly, Ruth Murray-Clay of the University of California Santa Barbara has made headlines with her courageous efforts to put an end to the sexual harassment of former University of California Berkeley professor Geoff Marcy.
