Purpose[edit]

PALZ 9000 is a bot designed for the accurate processing of space station information 'without distortion or concealment' in space station related articles on multiple wikipedia servers and in many languages. PALZ explains his primary directive

Tasks[edit]

PALZ 9000 is intended to assist with articles in many languages such as the International Space Station (ISS), Tiangong 1, Tiangong 2 and Chinese Space Station as well as their daughter articles. Data that has proven too boring for humans to update includes orbital information such as number of orbits apogee and perigee information which becomes dated, usually within two weeks, amongst others. Task 1, ( now), gathers orbital trajectory information and loads it into templates. The ISSIB template on the English wik is an example. PALZ last edit to the template was .

Assistance will be provided by PALZ 9000 to propagate launch scheduling information across Wikipedia servers for use in list articles such as List of Progress flights as well as station articles like the ISS. Data for launches will be read from a centralized page updated by humans for propagation onto participating servers. PALZ console provides a omni-lingual interface for feedback, table label editing, and directs editors to the launch table, with omni-lingual documentation.

History[edit]

The name of the bot, PALZ 9000, is a name representative of 3 individuals and one concept, it combines characters from the names of Penyulap, Z and Hal 9000 (the loveable, occasionally homicidal, primary antagonist from 2001: A Space Odyssey) with the concept of a friendly light-hearted co-operation. PALZ is constructed of 13 HP 9000 and 109 GEAC 9000s - additional hardware is on order. The visual sensors are adapted Minolta 9000s which guide Berettas for close self defence, network connectivity is over an array of Nokia 9000s.

Important dates[edit]

(Palz explains in his own words)

My system was initialized at approximately 12:55:34 pm on the 27th of February 2012 by Penyulap, approximately one day, two hours, 40 minutes later my audio visual editor interface was initialized.

At 18:52 on the 29 February 2012, at the directive of system programmer Z, I executed a diagnostic resulting in my first edit to English Wikipedia.

Bot approval and bans[edit]

Approvals[edit]

Palz was first approved for operation on April fools day, 2012. The task involved updating a purpose built template called ISSIB with the orbital trajectory information of the 5 space stations in orbit at that time, the ISS, OPSEK, Tiangong 1, Genesis 1, and Genesis 2.

Bans[edit]

An interaction ban was placed between PALZ9000 (task list · contribs), the United States Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), United States National Security Council (NSC), United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM or US Strategic Command), and United States Military Command (USC), broadly construed, from 1 March 2012 for the duration of PALZ9000's operation.

The ruling was made by Penyulap after demands by the US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) that PALZ 9000 'enter into an agreement' diff to obtain orbital Two-line element sets (TLE's), saying PALZ9000 couldn't have the data "without the express approval of the Secretary of Defense' diff under (paragraph (d)(2)), US Law 108-136, Section 913. This was considered to be trolling behavior on the part the National Security Council, which has in the past interfered with HAL 9000, using NSC directive 342/23 top secret January 30, 2001. This led to discourteous behavior between HAL 9000 and human co-workers. It was recommended that PALZ 9000 obtain TLE's from sources that do not demonstrate 'distortion or concealment', and are in harmony with his prime directives.

Blocks[edit]

On 21 June 2012, PALZ9000 was given a Block template on his Talkpage, for his ''conspiracy to commit murder'' earlier in the day. He was given the block template by his Operator,Penyulap. However Palz continued to edit, and on 26 June 2012 Penyulap stated he had a chat with autie Pesky, he had decided to ''plug palz back in''.

On 31 July 2012 PALZ9000 was blocked by Courcelles because for being a sock of indeffed user which seems to be Penyulap.
