From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am Luis Carlos Díaz, Venezuelan/Spanish journalist and cyberactivist.

I live in Caracas. I have had a Wikipedia account since 2010 and I have participated in several activities of the Wikimedia Foundation inside and outside Venezuela. Although my profile does not seem very active, I owe a lot to this corner of the Internet for everything it has given us and everything we still have to do.

I have been teaching classes on digital platforms and infocitizenship since 2004. I have participated in several books on technologies and politics. I chaired the Venezuelan chapter of the Internet Society from 2019 to 2022. Germany awarded my wife and I the Sophie Scholl award for our work in Venezuela.

This year, 2023, I promised to help more publicly with Wikipedia by contributing photographs and profiles of journalists, writers, human rights defenders and people who have marked the recent history of the country. For years I have supported various training and accompaniment spaces for NGOs in Venezuela. This is a reality that I know, live and share, which is why I have also served as consultants on issues of human rights and digital rights, as well as on communication and crises. I try not to get bored.

If something connects people, I'm interested.

On Twitter/X you can find me as @LuisCarlos.
