Astro is an American Punk/Runn band, formed in Greenwood Village, Denver, CO on February 21, 1988. The band is made up of: lead guitarist/lead vocalist Jake Ling, bassist/backing vocalist Ryan Seab'eastan Cole and drummer, Michael Totejean. The band released there first album "One" on April 13, 1990, when 2 of the band members where 10 years old. They released "One" off of Thomas Records 1 which was an independent record label in Denver. The joined the Narlesville club in 1988, there shows there were epic. There second album "Parkway" which was also released on Thomas Records 1, which was Jake's twin brothers record label. Parkway was released on January 17, 1992, the music from Parkway was more punky and faster. They were offered a major-label record deal with "Thomas Records 2" but they weren't sure about accepting it, but on March 27, 1993 they signed with Thomas Records 2, which was a major-label. On January 5, 1993, Astro opened there own venue called the Astro Stadium it contained 4,346,000,851,000000,00000,00,87,00 seats and for every tour after that they would play there opening show there and there finale show there. There debut album released on January 27, 1994 was entitled Dookie, name was taken from Californian Punk-Peer band Green Day, they took the name shortly before Green Day released there Dookie. Dookie made them very famous in there city, and all of the U.S.A. Dookie won a Grammy Award, and an Escape T.V. There 1995 album Troubled Soul was released on January 7, 1995 it won 17 Escape T.V. Awards in the same month, and hitting number 3 on Modern Rock Charts (Underground). On November 15, 1994 (aged 14) lead singer/guitarist Jake Ling became a father, he wrote a song called "Brain Stew", while trying to put his son to sleep, then 8 days later he attached a different song to Brain Stew called "Jaded". The song Brain Stew was put together with Jaded and on the album appeared as Brain Stew/Jaded. There next album was released on March 28, 1997 it was entitled "Daydreamer" it's best known song was Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) and the single was released on April 2, 1997, right after the albums release. The Daydreamer World Tour went on from May 1, 1997 to November 24, 1998. Ling became a father again in 1998 on August 31, 1998, and on May 7, 2000, drummer Michael Totejean got married. On November 24, 1998, Astro took a break from the music business instead spending time with there family, friends and still with each other. But in January, 2000 they got back together and starting working on there next album "Imposters" which was there first title-track album. It was about the Yiehelli War it contained 6 hits such as "Imposters", "Alright", "Geniocide", "Shooter", "Red Neck" and "Tink & Pifs" it was a very popular album. There tour for this album started only two days after the albums release. Imposters was a very well received album. It was released on June 12, 2000, and hit number 1 on Modern Rock Charts (Underground). They finished there Imposters" tour on December 23, 2001, and on May 1, 2002 they joined the Explosive's Tour and it was based around Imposters. They finished the Explosive's Tour on December 17, 2002. Most of the tour was played in outdoor amphitheatres and indoor stadiums. On June 6, 2003 they released a greatest hits compilation called "International Superhits" they toured for that album in early 2004. The tour finished on July 1, 2004. On March 3, 2003, drummer Michael Totejean became a father his sons name was Frank Totejean. On September 21, 2004, Astro released "American Idiot" It was there biggest album to date, it contained 7 hits: American Idiot, Jesus Of Suburbia, Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends, I Fought The Law and Working Class Hero. The album was about 9/11 and George Bush. The tour for American Idiot started on January 3, 2005 and ended on December 23, 2005. From January 2006 - May 2009 they took off and spent time with there family's while they wrote songs. There next album, 21st Century Breakdown was released on May 15, 2009 and started touring for it on July 7, 2009 and played there finale show on October 29, 2010. 21st Century Breakdown contained 7 hits: 21 Guns, Last Of The American Girls, Know Your Enemy, 21st Century Breakdown, East Jesus Nowhere, Peacemaker and Horseshoes & Handgreanades.. On September 18, 2010 they released Computers & Christmas they started touring for it in January, 2011, And are still touring for it now, while they also do there Cast Of American Idiot play on broadway.
