The Witbooi clan comes from an afican ethnic group of South Africa,Namibia and Botswana, the Nama people. They Speak the kwoikhoigowab language and lives in the Southern part of Namibia in the Karas region from a town called Gibeon. Their leader,Hendrik Witbooi, who is a well known Namibian leader. Before Namibia was colonised Hendrik Witbooi was involved in Namibia-Germany war in 1904 to 1907 [1]

Hendrik Wibooi died in 2009 and his death caused the Witbooi clan's leadership succession dispute. Arguments as to who should take his inheritance arised as Hendrik Ismael Witbooi, who is the stepchild of the late Witbooi claimed that he was chosen to be the successor, but family members were against it because of the fact that he belonged to another church, called the New African Methodist Epostical(AME) church. Family members claim that Ismael Witbooi does not really look at then interest of the Witbooi's but that he is only power hungry to benefit himself.

Futhermore, there were also rumours that Fred Goeieman as an ex-detainee vowed to destroy Hendrik Witbooi and his family as the former vice-president of Swapo because of fact that the late Kaptein rejected both Salomon Josephat Witbooi and Hendrik Ismael Witbooi as possible successors to the throne due to family reasons.but Salomon Josephat Witbooi was never an option to be the chief and Hendrik Ismael Witbooi was disinherited. People have been complaining and said that the clan should not allow Fred Goeieman to disobey the requests of the late chief and to be vigilant against disunity in the Witbooi clan [2]

Long live the Witbooi clan.
