My main professional interest is multi-purpose network design.

I'm one of the people who invented the twisted-pair & hub physical layer and MAC protocol for Ethernet. That worked out pretty well. I also designed some of the features used by WiFi and the MBOA MAC protocol. WiFi looks like a keeper too, but it's too early to say about UWB.
