Cosmetic Surgeries Medical procedures such as Breast Augmentation, Liposuction and Rhinoplasty have risen in acceptance and demand among the general population due to the fact that these methods allow countless individuals to alter their body, for what they deem to be enhanced. Over the past decade the norm for beauty has been promoted by women with small waists, pinched noses and large breasts. In 2011 it was approximated that around nine million surgical and non-surgical procedures were done in the United States alone (Top 10 Most Popular cosmetic procedures in the U.S). The most popular surgical procedure executed in the United States and many other foreign countries is breast augmentation. Breast implants have become one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed on women all over the world. The materials used for this procedure are Silicone, Saline and Composite filler implants. Silicone implants, which feel the most similar to real breasts, are gel like pouches, which filled with silicone and encased by a hard shell. Implants made of Saline solution encase sterile saline solution. The less common type of implant and less preferred by women, are Composite filler implants which contain various plasters such as soy oil. Weather implants are made of Saline, Silicon or other material; none of the constituents create a lifetime durable implant. However, they do they have a fixed expiration date either. The next surgery rising in popularity is Liposuction. With the rates of obesity still on the rise many individuals have turned to the surgical procedure of liposuction, in order to quickly correct their weight problem. More than 45,000 Liposuctions are implemented each year, but, recent studies have now begun to prove Liposuction does not eliminate fat permanently. Within the time period of a year, the fat once removed is collected by the body by natural process. The only difference is that the new fat cells redistributed to other parts of the body. What has been firmly proven is that fat removed from the abdominal area and inner thighs usually reappears in the women’s upper body; specifically, the shoulders and triceps (Kolata). The next procedure vastly conducted is Rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty is the reshaping of the nose. A female’s body is not usually fully developed until she reaches the age of twenty. However, facial features do not change significantly from his or her adolescent years. Youths passing through this age are prone to aggressive bullying from their peers and other students whom they cooperate with in school and other social gatherings. Harassment and constant oppression because of his or her physical appearance is what will drive youngsters to submit to Rhinoplasty. The three most popular procedures performed are Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, and Rhinoplasty. Additionally, statistics show that women are the main consumers when it comes to esthetic surgical procedures. Cosmetic operations are a compromise for individuals whom dislike their facial features or body. Many patients who have gone through cosmetic surgeries will often share how improved their life has become in almost every aspect. Cosmetic surgeries are peaking right now and with the upcoming generation a true peak could be decades away. [1]
