0 Do F1 drivers official represent a nation?

Yes - Consider the entry list: [1]. This has a column which is clearly marked as nationality. This is therefore evidence that Formula One officially recongises the nationality of its drivers, which indicates that they are considered to officially represent that nation. If this wasn't the case, why would it be on there? It is not the nationality of thier license (as Mazepin's license is Russian, but he isn't identified as being Russian, it is the country that they are officially considered to represent.

Looking at the reason why Mazepin isn't listed as Russian, in December 2020, CAS ruled that Russia could not be officially represented at World Championships.[2] This ban applies to Formula One.[3]. The Court of Arbitration for Sport considers Formula One drivers to officially represent thier nation (before you shout "WP:OR", the previous source says "So Mazepin and all Russian athletes will not be representing their country at all."
