User:The Grief
The true identity of the cyber detective The Grief remains uncertain, although there is strong evidence he is either Sam Gosford, Dennis McCarthy, Tom Alvarez, or one (or more) or all of the following frequent message-board posters: "The Grizzly Wolf," "LL Attorney," and "The Khuroc."
McCarthy is a licensed and bonded New York State private investigator, making him the best bet as the prime mover, yet evidence also suggests he may be simply a small cog in a much larger machine. The Grief was purportedly responsible for alerting eBay in 2003 to an auction of Avril Lavigne's love letter to a former boyfriend, which auction was later pulled.
Later that year, The Grief also attempted, with varying success, to stop the sale of bootleg TV pilots on the black market weeks before broadcast premiere. Some networks were right on top of the situation, but The Grief (or one of his agents) was surprised at the attitude of Eliza Dushku's fans, who saw nothing wrong in stealing her Tru Calling pilot weeks before it aired. The Grief and/or his agents tried to alert Dushku's representatives but met with similar apathy.
The Grief maintains no known blogs or active websites, which only would slow his efforts to keep internet information immediately accurate, reliable, and -- when possible -- dignified.
Of late The Grief has become increasingly aware that Wikipedia is being used as a tool to harass public figures. Because of the nature of the internet, said harassment of public figures is a Federal offense as these message are routed across state lines.
The Grief has vowed to uses all the resources at his disposal to effect prosecution of all violators. The Grief is a fervent believer in non-violent change. One of his favorite quotes is from Winston Churchill: "Jaw jaw is better than war war."
Strong evidence suggests that someone named Luther Griggs is not only The Grief but is also the "real" identity of all the above-mentioned individuals.
