British Spelling[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia.

You may be unaware that the spellings you changed in Conium maculatum were not optional preferences, but once established on an article they should be left in place unless there is a compelling reason to change them. See MOS:RETAIN As C. maculatum originates in in Eurasia I see no compelling reason to convert the article to using American spellings. Therefore I have reverted your edits. 🌿MtBotany (talk) 14:18, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was totally ware. And clearly you are another aggressive Brit that failed to see that the first paragraph and version were American English, not British stuff. But I am not going to fight idiotic stuff like this. Iwas trying to get this article right according to the guidelines. Weird how they never complain when I change American English to british english. Brexit forever!
Btw, this is not you, this is the class of people your represent and at least your note was polite and did not include meaningless stuff like last warning, etc. Your move to change the first paragraph into British (I honestly believe there should be two WIKI's by now. It is not the z, ou and se. It is the completely archaic and not understandable language that is the problem). Which BTW, also was included in my edit. But probably you would probably not mind that as that is better than probably using American English (ENough hints to find it) 69.181.8.174 (talk) 04:25, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While naturalise is used in Britain, naturalize is also used. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_spelling_differences#Greek-derived_spellings_(often_through_Latin_and_Romance)
Also, since you already are aware of the convention you will also be aware that it is not the head of the document that determines MOS:RETAIN, but the usage in the history of the document. Whatever was being used at the time the article stub status is what is retained unless there is a compelling reason that it should be changed.
Not that it is relevant, but I'm not British. However, please refrain from personal attacks on other editors for perceived national origin or characteristics. Per Wikipedia:No personal attacks. I'm placing the standard first level template so that there is no confusion about this issue.

Information icon Please do not use misleading edit summaries when making changes to Wikipedia pages, as you did to Ford Transit. This behavior is viewed as disruptive, and continuation may result in loss of editing privileges. This is also your second warning about MOS:RETAIN. 🌿MtBotany (talk) 03:17, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
