Renaming suggestion

Did you even bother to read the talk pages? This topic has been discussed many times before and each time it has been rejected because there is no consensus. Perhaps you have no knowledge of this matter, I suggest you read this, this, this this, this and this for a start before pushing forward with this proposal. One the Ireland talk page you should also read this and this. It has failed each time it has been proposed. I have read the talk page. How is it even open for debate? According the UN and every other organisation the name of the country is Ireland. Just because someone from the UK doesn't agree with that name doesn't mean the wikipedia page should be changed to suit them. I intend to go all the way with this. I want the official name for my country used not some description. So is this prompted by an anti-British stance? Where did you get that from? And what makes you suggest "someone from the UK doesn't agree? I am Irish too!! This is Wikipedia not the UN. Your comment "I intend to go all the way with this" shows that your reasoning is a not WP:NPOV and that is not appreciated on Wikipedia. I am just saying a lot of the people voting were British, making their pov flawed. This shouldn't be a democracy for wikipedia editors to vote in, it should just be fact. I will consider all the discussion links, but they mean very little. Fact is fact and opinions are opinions. Which one does wikipedia discourage? The latter. Firstly, making legal threats is against the policies of this project. Secondly, this has nothing to do with "someone in the UK". This is not a sectarian issue. Please do not make it one. Simply, Wikipedia naming conventions are to use the common name that "the greatest number of English speakers would most easily recognize, with a reasonable minimum of ambiguity, while at the same time making linking to those articles easy and second nature". The Republic of Ireland achieves this, without compromising clarity between "Ireland" (the island) and "Ireland" (the state). This is a recognised compromise, and everybody here recognises that "Ireland" is the official name of the country, and this is therefore clarified several times in the article and elsewhere. Thirdly, it's not about "voting" - it's about discussion and consensus building. Unilateral naming changes are unlikely to have any longevity - name changes need to be built on the guidelines set out. Finally, please consider creating a user account so that your edits don't get lost in a flurry of anonymous edits.
