Talk:Dick Cheney[edit]

I've responding to your comment on Talk:Dick Cheney regarding the external links, but I wanted to be sure you see my response to your accusations of "ideologically based censorship". I find that to be an egregious attack and expect it to never happen again. It is extremely inappropriate and explicitly forbidden by our no personal attack policy. Comment on content, not on the contributor. Also, when leaving a comment, please sign using four tildes ~~~~. This will produce your name and date. - auburnpilot talk 20:23, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand this. Suggesting that censorship may be ideologically based is NOT a personal attack, but a comment on what content a user seems to attack and what he or she seems to let go. The point, I think, is that we all have our personal biases - every last single one of us - and while we may try to avoid them showing up in our "work," that's not always possible. The consensus approach to building Wikipedia helps avoid this bias "settling in," as it were. Am I wrong about that? It doesn't seem like responding to such comments with bullying and threats is very constructive at all. GrotesqueOldParty 02:55, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It is difficult for me to understand the underlying causes of AuburnPilot's expressed belligerence, at least as I read and interpret his comments directed at me personally, as well as those he directed at you. I have looked at his own contrib and talk pages, and have clues, but only clues. I suspect your username of "GrotesqueOldParty" is probably inherently provocative to some; I can only guess at what some might think they can intuit from my own "an unattributed source" ID. I took down a lot of personally identifying information (like an autographed photo of me standing one-on-one with Senator John Kerry, which is of course still visible to anyone browsing the log of all of my contributions) after I felt I had been at least "menaced" by username "Crockspot" - look at his talk pages if you really want to lose some sleep. I "menaced" you? Bullshit. You happened to be editing quite a few articles that are on my watchlist, and you were slipping in content that is not allowed. I stopped and corrected you. If you think that's "menacing", then I'd love to see what you called it if I was really menacing you. Now stop making personal attacks on me, or you'll find yourself the subject of a behavioral RfC (to start). - Crockspot 16:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just thought you'd like to know that GrotesqueOldParty (talk · contribs) has been blocked indefinitely as a block evading sockpuppet of TortureIsWrong (talk · contribs), who was blocked for trolling. - auburnpilot talk 16:24, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
