Ali Hewson's children[edit]

Did you have a reason (eg, a reputable source) for changing the dates of Ali Hewson's children's births? If so, please let me have it - in the meantime, I have reverted your recent changes. On the other hand, if you were just messing about, please don't - Wikipedia articles are for a serious purpose. Thanks. MarkThomas 20:47, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MarkThomas, I don't know if this is the right place to answer you, but hopefully you'll be able to read this. The reason I changed the date of brith of the Hewson children is because I read U2 by U2 and it said there that Elijah was born Aug 17 and John, May 20. I want to let you know that I was not messing around, I was really just trying to correct something I believed was a mistake. I don't know if you have read the book, but that is what it says there. But then again there are many mix ups in dates throughout the book so I might be wrong, in which case then please by all means you're welcome to correct me. Thanks for being so polite while adressing this issue with me. please write back just so I know you read this. Thank you. Babyla14 12:39, 3 January 2007

Hi, thanks for your comments. If so, then you can add your source to the article. The problem with your edit was that as you are a new user and you didn't show a source, it was hard to tell if it was a genuine edit - a lot of new users or people playing just change little things like dates to see if anyone is watching! This may be a case of IMDB and other sources on the web being wrong - they often are - and if it's in the authorised book, it's presumably trustworthy. To add a source to your edit, you place a reference immediately after the text, do you know how to do that? Thanks for your interest in editing Wikipedia. I understand how not showing a source can be a problem, I've heard of the vandalism and I think that's just so wrong. I did make a mistake by editing an article without knowing how to include the source first, that's something I will definitely not try again unless I learn how to use a genuine source to back it up. Thanks again for pointing out the problem here, I do take Wikipedia seriously and I'm glad there's people out there trying to make sure that articles stay accurate and that no one is messing around with them. Thank you for writing back. Babyla14 13:43, 4 January 2007
