A tag has been placed on Charles E. Duble, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The Sunshine Man 18:06, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what to do next[edit]

In reviewing speedies for actual deletion, I saw this article and I do not think it is hopeless, so I changed to a slower form of deletion allowing your 5 days to improve the article. What I think it depends on is whether he wrote those marches, arranged them, or just played them, and I can not tell from the article. As you know the subject, you'll be able to say, and you should say. I don't know the field--are the names in parenthesis the composers, the publishers, or what. I reformatted some of it to WP standards to get you started. Good luck with it. DGG 20:22, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear DGG: C E Duble was a composer of all of the works listed. He is listed in at least 2 already existing articles on Wikipedia - American march music, and Screamer ... as composer. The names in parentheses are publishers, i.e. Carl Fischer Inc. Cooper Square, NY, NY; Alvin Willis Music Co. Dixon, Ill., etc. Dates are Copyright dates in the Library of Congress or on the music itself. I personally OWN all but 4 of the titles given here.

I am also the original researcher and author of the biographical sketch from which Norm Smith and Paul Bierley wrote their articles in the references cited. The only other anecdotal sources of information on Charlie Duble, i.e. Merle Evans, Sverre Braathen, Paul Luckey, are all dead. They provided me with information, as well as leads on primary documentation on my biographical sketches of Duble.
If you are not willing to accept this information, even though music encyclopedias, and band music reference books have already done so, this information will be lost to future readers searching for online information.
