Peer Review[edit]

I liked what you wrote about her origins with the maguey plant, and you have a great gallery of images. I think to be fully fleshed out, the article needs more about her significance — why was maguey so important that the Aztecs had a dedicated maguey deity? You go into it a little bit with the various uses, but I think you could add a few more sentences about the prominence in everyday life. You touch briefly on pulque, were there other rituals? You briefly mentioned in the intro that Mayahuel was part of a web of fertility goddesses and was associated with nourishment, and it would be great to provide more information on that. (BC Note: I included everything I could find in the sources, which was not enough to answer these questions unfortunately. There's not much information out there on Mayahuel!) I think you could also do more to interpret some of the images and describe her physical attributes and appearances in various codices and carvings.
