A tag has been placed on Darrell M. West (political scientist), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

WP:COI

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DUBJAY04 18:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:
  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. rʨanaɢ (talk) 16:17, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Douglas Dillon chair[edit]

Dear Dr. West,

Thank you for your contributions to the Wikipedia article, and for the care you have taken in making your edits neutral and within policy; this is greatly appreciated!

Regarding this edit, I just wanted to point out to you that this edit might be considered edit warring (multiple editors overriding one another's contributions, without discussion), because it restored content that I had removed in a previous edit (the content is in a different sentence but is still basically the same content) and didn't address the reason I deleted that content. You may not be familiar with that Wikipedia policy; you can find more information by following the link from "edit warring" above.

I realize, however, that Wikipedia's content guidelines concerning this matter are a bit unclear, and in fact I recently started a discussion about this topic; see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biographies#Institution-specific titles/awards and WP:CREDENTIAL. I welcome you to add your feedback to this discussion; I think that would be very helpful. Thank you, rʨanaɢ (talk) 23:17, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
