Turbines on Arklow dock photo[edit]

Hi, I am trying to figure out where abouts on the dock was taken for Arklow Bank Wind Park. TIAArnkellow (talk) 12:04, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The photo was taken by former colleague who work for GE though the construction and later well into the operations phase. I have not been in contact for a while, but if you're interested in history during construction I'll chase him up. Perhaps I can put you together. I have another contact who worked on the project who has lots of funny anecdotes. If interested, I can chase him also. --Davagh (talk) 15:43, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Cheers, its just I don't recognise the area, there are trees and power cables in the background. Was it from a staging area prior to being shipping quay side? Arnkellow (talk) 20:54, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to chase down my old contact. My primary contact took the photo. My secondary contact, Dan Pearson was a senior on the commercial side of GE wind for the project. He has the funniest stories about what an absolute nightmare the build was. It was a groundbreaking project, but so much trouble it put a subsequent hold on Irish offshore wind ambitions. If I can't locate the photographer, and you're looking for general Arklow Bank history, Dan would be very accommodating if you send him a message. --Davagh (talk) 22:21, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it wasn't smooth. New phase going ahead now, they have secured a base quayside. It just doesn't look like the dock, I am from Arklow and worked for six years down there. It looks more like a holding site, but they have a lifebuoy which would put it near water obvs. Thanks for your help, there is no hurry for the info. Hopefully I will be able to get more updated pictures and info and add as it grows. Have a good weekend. Arnkellow (talk) 15:56, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Got hold of my old friend. You're correct, its not Arklow. Assembly yard where this photo was taken was Rosslare!! I'll update the Arklow page and the tag for the photo. My friend was Project Mgr during construction. He's more than happy to talk about it. I don't know how to swap emails? Davagh (talk) 15:43, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was just curious because I didn't recognise the area, no that's fine. Thanks for your help. Arnkellow (talk) 16:05, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
