Thank you for your work to help make the article on the Iraq War more representative of all views. Kukini 20:29, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Smith Chart created by Black Magic is in vector pdf format. The file contains arcs, lines, and text (vector descriptions). It can be plotted without pixelization at any scale because the file has no raster (pixel) information. "Resolution" can refer to vector tolerance levels, but is more often reserved for use in describing the number of dots per inch of a raster image. --لæmäļ al diη 23:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • While useful at low-tolerance levels, the Black Magic pdf is innacurate for precise impedance matching and converts poorly to the SVG vector format used by Wikipedia. (Every conversion process I tried created massive file sizes with multi-segment SVG paths instead of simple arc paths.) --لæmäļ al diη 23:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • A native SVG format Smith Chart could be created with high precision arc paths but I don't know what the demand for a scalable vector graphic version would be now that most calculations are automated. --لæmäļ al diη 23:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • A scanned Black Magic nomogram with the "Black Magic" removed is just as copyright protected as if the "Black Magic" still existed, replaced with PNG image of SVG Visual Magic vector Smith Chart referencing 22m relative coefficient points plotted as a dual spectrum JPG background. --لæmäļ al diη 23:00, 5 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The whole American English thing[edit]

I always thought my user page was mine to do as I liked with, so long as I did not violate the rules of Wikipedia, especially the one about NPOV.

I can see their point in wanting the thing deleted, because it could be prejudiced against a variant/dialect of English which is very important and powerful.

I'm finding the Arbitration elections very confusing and hard to vote for. Lots of people have already put in their votes. Except I really really don't think that user pages have anything to do with the Arbitration Committee. Perhaps I'm naive. --EuropracBHIT 22:12, 9 January 2006

Thank you for responding. I encourage you to research the contributions of the candidates and vote your heart in the election. Just add your signature to bottom of the list. I think you will find that the following candidates are all heavily involved in extreme POV censorship: Kelly Martin, Jpgordon, Fred Bauder, James F., Jayjg, and Mindspillage. For example, User:Kelly Martin deleted the Template:User-AmE-0 that you use on your home page. These templates are employed on individual user pages only, and do not claim to represent the official shared position of the Wikipedia collective. Still, some self-appointed dictators feel it is their responsibility to control individual expression on user pages. These people make scary threats and wave their subjective laws around like jello sabres, but some of us are here to make an encyclopedia and know what WP:NPOV really means. It sure as hell doesn't mean whatever reality those few in power want to force upon everyone else. --لæmäļ al diη 22:42, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're right by the way, Demi (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) is entirely out of line to try dictate what you do or do not have on your talk page, and I have heard from other administrators it's considered very bad form to continually revert someone else's talk page no matter how important you think your message is.
Trying to force you to post perfectly reasonable talk page messages elsewhere on the "village pump" is ridiculous, as most people don't actually read "the pump" and talk elsewhere A lot of people don't even know of it's existence until they're told about it. It's a scheme to try and make sure only "dedicated" editors get a chance to vote on issues most likely --Mistress Selina Kyle (Α⇔Ω ¦ ⇒✉) 23:11, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
