Hylton Castle - Wikipedia: Reference the comment under the heading "19th Century", ie "The school does not seem to have existed for long as Howitt commented in 1842 ..." William Howitt’s book “Visits to remarkable places” may have been published in 1842, but the foreword to the book was written on 1 September 1841, when the school must have still been a going concern. Even if it closed immediately after the census on 7 June 1841, it could not have gone to the ruin described by Howitt within three months. So Howitt must have visited Hylton Castle prior to it being refurbished as a school, probably in 1839. This makes sense. He needed to visit, research and write up a lot of places before he could publish. The preparation would take months, if not years. Jeanffrench (talk) 04:59, 25 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jeanffrench, you asked the following question on 16-Jan-2014. I have the answer for you, including a scan of the ship manifest. I'd be happy to send it to you.

"Hi, are you able to look up the 1866 voyage of the Caesar Godeffroy to Moreton Bay (Brisbane)? If so, I would be grateful if you could confirm whether there was a family onboard named NEUMANN (or spelling variant). The father was Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Neumann born 1822; the mother Anna Christina born 1810; and the son Carl Frederick Wilhelm born ca 1850. Thanks." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iontrail (talkcontribs) 08:56, 11 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
