Vandal Patrol
[edit]Hi there - thanks very much for letting me know about that. I usually notice, but it's good that there are people who are around to make sure I'm doing the right thing. It is also nice that your comment was polite: they generally aren't. Thanks once again. Ck lostsword|queta!|Suggestions? 16:45, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Surely being polite and assuming good faith is part of our obligation to be civil! We've got to be in favour of that - it makes the world (and the project) go round! Jpe|ob 13:08, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Paul Bongiorno
[edit]Hi Jpeob,
I probably should have known that people would have been suspicious of my addition to the Paul Bongiorno article and therefore cited a source - apologies for that.
Paul Bongiorno is common Australian rhyming slang for pornography.
- Paul Bongiorno -> Porno -> Pornography
For an example, see modiaminotaur.
The rugby league player Brad Thorn shares that dubious honour.
On that basis I'm satisfied that my edit doesn't fall into the category of vandalism and I will reinsert my addition with a relevant source.
If you have any other issues with my edits I'd appreciate it if you take it up with me on the relevant talk page before deleting them.
Cheers,
Joaq99 08:41, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is NOT an indiscriminate collection of information. "That something is 100% true does not mean it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia".
- The crude information that you have added is indeed "dubious" and unencyclopedic. Paul Bongiorno alone is the subject of this article. Not how he is viewed by a certain individual on the blogosphere.
- Further, a blog is not a Reliable Source.
- Cheers, Jpe|ob 12:32, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Aww come on, I was sure you guys would get the right one... It even directly spells out the bit about cockney rhyming slang... Sometimes I wonder if you guys even read the policies... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Joaq99 (talk • contribs) 14:14, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- WP:NOT - "We aren't teaching people how to talk like a Cockney chimney-sweep, or a British gent" - that sums it up. Jpe|ob 02:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Welcome!

Rencin
[edit]Hey thanks a lot man!!!!!!!! I guess i can ask you more if I have any doubts too?Rencin24 11:30, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. Of course you can. I'll be here. Also, sometimes when you are reverting vandalism, it is not only important to look at the last diff, but also at the recent history of the article. If I see quite a few anonymous edits I normally do a diff between the current edit and one that I can see to be a legitimate edit - say one that says "reverting to..." in the edit summary or one from an established editor that you respect and trust. Hope this helps. Jpe|ob 13:44, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
St Stanislaus' College
[edit]Hi,
FYI, the page was vandalised a couple of days back on 06 Oct 2006 by 150.203.233.5 . Please do not reply to this IP address. I may be able to help with some pictures soon. 144.199.176.12 GI-D User BNNNE 09:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers. I'll look at it a bit more regularly on my watchlist. Thanks for reverting. Jpe|ob 13:06, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Keating
[edit]Please do not remove the flags - it is considered vandalism. PMA 19:32, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- As a precursor, I take any claim that I have vandalised a page very seriously.
- Firstly, removing the Australian Labor Party logo from a page that is not Australian Labor Party is not vandalism, because the use of this image on the Paul Keating page is not fair use. Further, the removal of the Australian Flag ({{flagicon|AUS}}) - that I added to the infobox in the first place - was based on the considered view that these flags are unnecessary additions to infoboxes that would require an exhaustive amount of edits on all infoboxes if it were to be a wholesale policy for all wikipedia.
- I perhaps should have discussed this diff that you are referring to before taking the action, however this action was done in good faith and not based on a will to do harm or vandalise the project. I hope you can take my actions with good faith and engage in discussions that engender reasoned consensus. Cheers, Jpe|ob 01:31, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
As far as i know the flags are now standard in many biographical articles that i have seen (Steve Irwin, David Tennant) although i will accept your removal pending a discussion on the Keating talk page - i also accept your point about the ALP flag. [1] PMA 01:42, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. I think the page should probably stay as it is now. Have a good one, Jpe|ob 01:47, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Homosexuality in the Roman Catholic priesthood
[edit]Hi I have added the page references you wanted.
There are some very rash WP:POV statements still in the article which i could never be able to source eg Catholic priests take a vow of celibacy. Thus some homosexually inclined Catholics may have found the priesthood to be an acceptable way to live free of suspicion from others about their marital status, as a reaction to Church doctrine forbidding homosexual activity.
The Catholic church is the largest diplomatic service in the world, and any journalist trying to pry out that kind of information would find a dead end. I elect removal of suspicious non verifable nonsense. if you want me to scan and email you the section Catholics and Sex - Homosexuality, I will. Otherwise, happy editing Mike33 10:49, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers and thankyou for adding the page. I agree that such information should be removed as it can never be verified. I just sent you an email. Jpe|ob 10:58, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- I just deleted that sentence and cleaned it up. There is still quite a bit of unsourced conjecture. Cheers, Jpe|ob 11:02, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi Jpeob,
Let me first come to say that I didn't mean my links to be spam.
I'm here to try and understand your point of view why you removed my links.
I don't understand how Yahoo can link to their page while I can't: for example on the Telstra page: Yahoo! - Telstra Corporation Limited Company Profile
My website isn't a spam website - I'm just trying to let other traders like myself know where my website is. The link goes to my recent news posts about what stock brokers have recently said about that stock.
I'm not trying to impede or restrict the user's experience, I'm trying to share related information to the company - i.e. information about their stock.
Would love to hear from you!
Thanks! Mopolo 06:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

use of "vanity"
[edit]I appreciate you pointing out WP:COI on my talk page. I wasn't aware of it. My participation in deletion discussions started only a few days ago, and I noticed others using "vanity" where it seemed appropriate, so I began doing the same. So many policies to learn! Thanks for pointing it out. -Amatulic 17:54, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. Cheers, Jpe|ob 01:52, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Essendon Keilor
[edit]I was trying to remove the libellous comment. The problem seems to be if two editors are trying to revert at the same time, and (the second) one is using the popups, as I was... the result seems to be to revert the reversion and restore the objectionable text. The popup skips the 'review changes' option; it does everything automatically. m.e. 01:06, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Victoria of the United Kingdom
[edit]Thanks for the notice, I didn't see there were 2 vandals. As you can see I tried to revert to the safest spot (AVB), but it seems the poor bot had missed the first vandalism. I'll revert further next time. See you around! -- lucasbfr talk 05:27, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. Will do. Have a good one! Jpe|ob 05:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Ann Coulter
[edit]Do you really disagree that Ann Coulter is one of the most dispicable human beings to ever walk the face of the planet? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.124.164.6 (talk • contribs) 06:15, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
- This is not the place to push that view, per WP:NPOV. Especially through vandalism. Jpe|ob 10:09, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
John Howard
[edit]Leave the picture alone. You're putting pictures up that make the Prime Minister look bad. That is POV in a way. According to the PRIME MINISTERS website, the one I have put up is his OFFICIAL picture. Mattrix18 11:24, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted what was then a non-existent image. WP:NPOV was not an issue. Make sure you're fine by the Image use policy. Jpe|ob 11:31, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
David Hume
[edit]i didnt know i was actually changing the page —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.216.39.108 (talk • contribs) 23:53, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, you were. And adding nonsense is considered vandalism. Have a look at the Introduction and How to edit a page pages. Cheers, Jpe|ob 23:57, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
ETA Hoffmann
[edit]I've noticed that many people have contributed information on him. does anyone know the geneology on his father's family - or decendents of his brother?
I found a Ernst Whilhelm Hoffmann in my grandfather's pesonal papers after my grandparents past away. My grandfathers name was Ernst Theodore Hoffmann. I was just wondering what the connection and why the note. 71.139.245.129 05:34, 2 November 2006 (UTC)Pam
- You might want to try the Humanities Reference Desk but I doubt even they could deal with the specific nature of your request. E.T.A. Hoffman was German so you might want to take it up with music history scholars in Berlin (where he died). Otherwise, I am unsure how i can further help you. You may want to look up some of the references listed in the article so that you may find his children's names etc. Otherwise, I think it is you who will have to undergo further investigation into this interesting matter. On the Hume Removal.
[edit]Please do not remove content from Wikipedia, as you did to David Hume. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Jpe|ob 11:17, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- The removal seemed warranted. I see that you obviously don't agree. I've re-posted my comments on this in the Hume Discussion area. Sayvandelay 12:13, 3 November 2006 (UTC) You accused me of vandalism yet didn't even both to respond : I responded to you both on my page and on the Hume page. Sayvandelay 23:44, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Right. Thanks. It was a mistake done in good faith. Cheers, Jpe|ob 06:23, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
