Regarding the "Clann Breassil" edits in the Wicca article[edit]

Per WP:NOR, this section has been removed. "Clann Breassil" cannot be verified or documented from other sources, therefore additions of information about it is original research. Justin Eiler 13:31, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, Justadding,

There are a couple things that you may not be familiar with about Wikipedia.

  1. Wikipedia is not the best place for adversarial debates: the idea here is to work together to create the best encyclopedia. Edit wars are frowned upon.
  2. "Evidence" means actual evidence, not merely claims. Yes, there certainly is a Clann Breasil ... it's the name for the northern part of County Armagh in Northern Ireland.
  3. The website you cited (http://www.iol.ie/~gerardb/history.htm) is NOT an Irish government website: it is a commercial website. Furthermore, the website does not say anything about any religion except for Christianity. This is not "verifiable evidence of any traditional Wiccan lineage predating the early 20th century," this is merely proof that the name (which may or may not have been adopted by a more modern Wiccan or semi-Wiccan group) has existed for quite some time.

If you wish to present evidence that any form of Wicca was practiced by a group before Gardner, I certainly welcome the evidence, and will more than gladly examine anything you care to produce and discuss it with you. However, a simple assertion does not qualify as "evidence." Please discuss any proposed changes to the article on the relevant talk page.

Lastly, my talk page is located at User_talk:Justin Eiler. Both of the messages you left were on the wrong talk page. Mistakes like that tend to cloud communication, and botched communication is deleterious to creating the best possible encyclopedia.

I am going to revert the article pending your presentation of evidence, but I do look forward to your presentation.

Thanks.

PS: You can respond here on your talk page, or on the Wicca talk page, or on my actual talk page, as you prefer.

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. —Cryptic (talk) 16:56, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

== Tsk tsk, JustAdding ==

Not only are you "just adding" info you are also trying to erase your own record of being put in your place by Wikipedians, including here at your own user talk. And by the way, do you live in Ireland AND work as a casting director AND are "a member of the irish goverment protected Clan of Breassil"? --Birdflu2006 23:14, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What the hell are you talking about 65.184.17.216 10:56, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
