Personal Profile

I have been teaching English & Translation since 1976. I am married and have two sons. The eldest is finishing his master in business administration at the University of Miami, Florida, and the youngest has just started college at the same university. Both my sons are talented. The eldest is a writer and the youngest is a poet and a musician. My husband is a university professor, a graduate from New York University. He speaks five languages and he published a number of books and articles including a book on the prominent playwright and screen writer Tom Stoppard. He received a letter of recognition for the efforts he made writing this book from a number of publishers and writers including Tom Stoppard.

Education

Being in this environment encourages me to learn in all fields. My areas of interests include applied linguistics, translation studies, integrating technology into learning, brain-based research, curriculum design, research-based instructions, alternative assessment, quantitative and qualitative research, and second language learning theories. In 2009, I got my doctoral degree with honor from USA and my dissertation was about using the theory of multiple intelligences, developed by Professor Gardner of Harvard University, in learning a second language. I have a master degree with honor from the University of Phoenix, USA. Prior to my master studies, I completed my higher studies in linguistics and translation and I have obtained a proficiency certificate with honor in simultaneous and written translation from the American University in Cairo. My BA is in English and American literature. My BA studies included French and Latin.

Experience

More than 30 years teaching English, linguistics, and translation. I have worked with several universities overseas and in international language institutes including the British Council and the American Institutes for English and Culture. I have worked as a part time translator with UN. I am a member of several international professional organizations including the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Phi Delta Kappa, TESOL, ASCD, Child Rights Information Network, and the Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists.

Awards

I received in 2009 a certificate from World Encyclopedia after publication of bibloigraphic profile. I have also received awards from Willis Faber in London for training in using electronic office applications. I also received awards for my paintings. I have served as a member on my children’s school Board Committees of Education and Community Relations to enhance educational research and multi-cultural activities. I have been involved in service learning as a volunteer at the school. I have supported girls education for more than 30 years in the developing countries in Africa and the Middle East.

Philosophy & Publication

My philosophy of education is based on teaching English as a dynamic language using materials that provide knowledge, concepts and skills that are relevant to students’ needs and lives. I have participated in many language conferences and seminars since 1977 and this has helped her to get acquainted with other different philosophies of teaching. I also participated in some conferences with the United Nations and has a number of publications on short stories that include Katherine Mansfield’s An Ideal Family, E.M.Forester’s The Road to Colonus, Lord Dunsany’s The Guest, and The Birthday Party, published in Dr. Richard Andretta, The Theater of Harold Pinter.

Hobbies

The hobbies that I enjoy away from her life career include swimming, jogging, reading, and research in the field of education, psychology, sociology, literature, anthropology, history, comparative religions, spiritual studies, and technology. I also paint using oil and watercolor. I enjoy music and plays the Lute . I enjoy traveling and have been to almost all countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. I have lived in USA since I got married in 1983 and visited most of the states in USA. Traveling provides her with great opportunities not only for attending conferences and seminars on current research, but it also provides new experiences for various cultural and social activities.

Using Technology

I use WebQuests, Videos, Audios, and computer applications for my classes. I have been involved in e-learning since 2003 and I use blended learning for my daily instruction. I have used some non-profitable organization to develop online instruction to support my daily lessons.
