Hello[edit]

hello. i think i've seen you on wiktionary before. --2A02:2788:A4:F44:792D:B7E7:B4F9:C8F9 (talk) 14:20, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, that's me. Haven't edited in a while, though. ObsequiousNewt (talk) 14:26, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
not interested anymore? the attrition rate seems quite high on that project. are you a musician btw? --2A02:2788:A4:F44:792D:B7E7:B4F9:C8F9 (talk) 14:49, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sort of. I worked on Ancient Greek, and after a while I kind of realized it was pointless—I was just trying to transfer information from a better source to a worse one. That and gaining a greater interest in some other things has caused me to not really consider returning yet. As for your other question, I do enjoy music; I'd call myself a musician if not a very good one. ObsequiousNewt (talk) 14:54, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
i like wiktionary a lot, and often have spates of enthusiasm for it, but i always end up feeling like i'm wasting my time contributing there. and it's rather mind-numbing as well. you like classical? --2A02:2788:A4:F44:5DE0:457:1A25:5A94 (talk) 16:37, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
In the broader sense; I'm a great fan of Romantic and Impressionist music. How about yourself? ObsequiousNewt (talk) 16:39, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
sorry for the delayed answer; i'd completely forgotten to check this place. i'm an amateur classical pianist, although not a very good one: serious lack of technique, and i could use me a better ear (maybe not as important for the piano as for other instruments, but still!). but i do enjoy playing, especially bach. as for listening, i'm more of a baroque/classical/early romantic (beethoven–schubert–chopin) type. i generally find music written after 1850 less appealing to my ear, although there are exceptions of course. --2A02:2788:A4:F44:A007:A3A8:570A:4FFC (talk) 17:09, 21 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I've always liked a more... sort of unorthodox or experimental type of music. I like to listen to progressive rock as far as modern music is concerned. I do like to play classical piano, although I too lack pretty much all technique (I had a few years of piano lessons when I was very young and just sort of learned to play pieces myself for the rest of my life). So... what led you to my user page, if I may ask? ObsequiousNewt (talk) 03:29, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
actually i didn't express myself correctly: i generally find classical music written after 1850 less appealing to my ear. otherwise i've got fairly eclectic tastes: i like rap as well as black metal, b. spears as well as queen, and so on; i'm by no means closed to anything that isn't classical! as for your question: i wanted to shoot the breeze, and maybe get you to contribute again :-) --2A02:2788:A4:F44:3CDF:E60F:2A8A:96CB (talk) 00:45, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really think the latter is likely. I might be persuaded to work on things other than Greek, but... I really don't like the way Wiktionary is structured right now and I don't think the community is going to be receptive to any attempts to change it. And I have better, more productive things to do on other projects, really. Not to overly shoot down Wiktionary, but... I find it a lot more pointless and a lot less enjoyable than I used to. Oh well.
